To whom it may concern:

Re. Andrzej Kowalski

I would like to recommend that you consider Andrzej Kowalski for the Coaching and Mentoring position at your university. I have known Andrzej for 2 years. He has volunteered to help me find a job when I struggled to find one.

In my experience Andrzej distinguished himself as a very helpful and trustworthy person. He is well known for his attention to detail and conscientious attitude which resulted in finding a job for me within just 1 month. In addition to that, I was advised to change the format of my CV to make it more recognizable and valuable to my future employers. He is well respected throughout both the industry and academia for getting things done and for his ‘can do’ approach in challenging difficulties. These traits make the difference as I was always kept positive and motivated.

In view of the qualities outlined above, I would heartily recommend that you accept Andrzej for this position. He would amply repay trust placed in him and would prove to be an asset to the university.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance. I can be reached by email at pawel_lukasik@yahoo.co.uk

Yours faithfully,

Dr. Pawel Lukasik

My name is Seumo Tchekwagep Patrick Marcel and I am native and live in Cameroon. I am an associate member of the Royal Society (AMRSC) of Chemistry and defended my PhD in Analytical Chemistry since 2016 at the University of Yaoundé which is in Cameroon.

After that date, desperately I was looking for a postdoc anywhere in the world with some preferences.

After many attempts I always received negative feedbacks from professors I contacted and was really frustrated. Since I am an AMRSC, I found out that RSC can provide support by providing a mentor. I asked about that service and I have been put in contact with Andy Kowalski.

I have been in contact with Andy since February 2018. These words that I will put now is not to flatter Andy but are a response at a personal experience with him. I have found someone who understands me and has helped me to boost up my self-esteem!

I never feel that because of my background, or my skin colour Andy will treat me with less attention!

Practically he helped me to improve my CV by highlighting my strengths and has helped me with English corrections of some documents since I am not an English speaking.  I now am more confident in my applications and have been successful with some applications since I do not give up!

Besides that, professional relationship, I can say that Andy is a friend since I share with him some private issues, he is open to discuss any subjects. To highlight this, Andy and I will meet when I will go in UK for my research stay this September if the COVID 19 crisis steps down.  In general, I would like to help people as Andy is doing for me within   my small environment, I always try to encourage people to give their best!

Andy is a long-standing Member of the RSC (MRSC) and is also a qualified and accredited Coach and Mentor and is  a qualified Manager and Fellow of Chartered Management Institute (FCMI).

Andrzej was referred to Andy by a relative as he was unsure of the pathway he should take after his studies. Andy gave Andrzej confidence and direction by reviewing his CV and giving him pointers that helped him finish his Master’s degree at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznam. Andrzej is now more confident in the direction his life is taking.

Grace was a Masters student at Loughborough University who came to Andy to get some coaching on how to optimise her skills and focus her plans for the future. Grace is more confident and focused from the help provided by Andy.

Grace Curtis-Holsgrove is now a Flow Assurance Engineer currently working in Holland.

Paul was a mature senior research chemist who suddenly found himself out of work due to a closure. He came to Andy who was able to help identifiy strong points of his CV and provide direction to take him back into employment.

The case studies detailed above provide a glimpse of a few of the people Andy has helped through career consultancy and personal development coaching over the years.

In addition to the above, Andy has been providing coaching and mentoring to his clients and also done some Group work with DMU’s Careers and Employability Service helping students with skills needed to get into work.
He is also engaged with the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) in providing mentoring help for a young man hoping to study Biosciences, this is done by email.
