Andy has Health and Safety experience and holds CIEH qualifications in Risk Assessments and IOSH I Managing Safely.

He and a colleague dealt with two potentially dangerous near miss incidents in 2011 & 12 regarding waste solvent drums which were leaking and over pressurized due to acidic waste being added to them. Andy took the lead and made the situation safe and dealt with both the Health and Safety office and the Environment Manager in terms of filling in reports and arranging for safe removal from the solvent store and making recommendations on changes needed to preventing this type of incident reoccurring.

In addition, he has attended departmental training in COSHH, DSEAR and Lifting and Moving Goods safely, in addition to this he has attended a course on Bomb and suspicious packages training as part of his role of Stores Manager in the Department of Chemistry at Loughborough University.

Andy also has had many years’ experience in stores management with purchasing goods and services for the department and built strong relationships with suppliers and their technical representatives. He has also used DEECAL and Aggresso financial packages for credit card reconciliations of goods purchased and trained others.

In January 2017, Andy was elected to the grade of Fellow of Chartered Management Institute and now holds the designatory letters FCMI
